MANGONUI HOSPITAL
ESTIMATES FOR THE YEAR INCREASE IN THE LEVY [by telegraph—own correspondent] KAITAIA, Saturday The estimates for the coming year were approved by the Mangonui Hospital Board at its meeting at Kaitaia this week. The levy on the local authorities will be £3427 on the Mangonui County Council and £340 on the Kaitaia Town Board. The total is an increase of approximately £IOOO over the amount for last year and is accounted for by the levy of £1222 for capital expenditure for the new laundry and other additions at the hospital. Last year there was no capital expenditure. The statement of accounts for last year, presented by the treasurer, Mr. W. H. 'Atkins, showed « credit balance of £954. The amount received in payment of patients' fees was £IOOO more than was estimated. The board decided to increase the matron's salary to £250 a year, the senior sister's salary to £l3O, and the secretary's salary to £2BO.
The board decided to call for tenders for supplies to the hospital during the coming year. THE KAIPARA BOARD ACCOMMODATION PROBLEM [from our own correspondent] DARGAVILLE, Saturday For the purpose of discussing the urgent need for additional accommodation at the Northern Wairoa Hospital at Te Kopuru the Kaipara Hospital Board is to call a conference of the contributing bodies, the Dargaville Borough Council, the Hobson County Council and the Otamatea County Council. One of the questions which is expected to be discussed is the advisability of the hospital remaining at Te Kopuru or being removed to Dargaville. Tentative estimates of the cost of providing additional accommodation at the hospital forwarded by the Health Department amount to between £BOOO and £IO,OOO.
