JUDGE OF SAMOA
TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT MR. R. M. WATSON, OF FOLDING [by telegraph—own correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH, Sunday It was announced yesterday that Mr* R. M Watson, S.M., of Feilding, had been appointed to the position of Chief Judge of the Samoan Court. It is understood that the appointment is of ti temporary nature, probably for a period of three months. Mr. Watson is to sail from Wellington on Tuesday. So far no statement has been made regarding the filling of the vacancy that will be created at Feilding. Since the return of Mr. J. H. Lusford, S.M., formerly Chief Judge of Samoa, to New Zealand some time ago, the duties have been carried out by various stipendiary magistrates from the Dominion, who have generally stayed in Samoa for about three months. These appointments have been only of a temporary nature. „ .
