♦ MEETING FUTURE NEEDS EAST COAST REQUEST [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] GISBORNE. Saturday Afforestation was discussed at the conference at Gisborne to-day of ten local bodies froin Wairoa to Waiapu. A resolution was passed that the Government be asked to give full consideration to the establishment of a branch of the Stato Forest Service in a suitable part of the east coast of the North Island, with a view to supplementing the rapidly-diminishing supply of indigenous timber.
