BIENNIAL ELECTIONS MEETINGS OF HOUSEHOLDERS Under the Education Law Amendment Act of :i933 the term of office of school committees was increased from one year to two, and the first of the biennial elections will be held throughout the Auckland Education Board's district on Wednesday, April 22, at 7.30 p.m. Nominations for membership on the committees must be in the hands of the chairman of the committee not later than eight o'clock to-morrow night, hut it is provided that in cases where the average attendance at the school does not exceed 240, nominations may bc> made at the biennial meeting of householders. Every householder in the school district is qualified to vote, and both husband and wife can take part bdth as voters and as candidates. Where the average attendance of the school is less than 100 the committee consists of fivo members, where it is between 100 and 200 there are seven members, and for schools with more than 200 there are nine members on the committee. There are no fewer than 650 committees in the Auckland board's district, and in many places where the householders have tailed to elect a committee the school is supervised by commissioners appointed by the board. Some committees supervise the needs of several schools. If in any case tho householders fail to elect a committee on April 22 they will be given another opportunity to do so three weeks later.
