BRITISH DEFENCES
INCREASED EXPENDITURE EXPANSION OF AIR FORCE British Wireless RUGBY, April 11 Considerable interest has been aroused by an announcement, made by the Chanrellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, before the House of Commons adjourned for the Easter recess, that he anticipated the additional requirement for the Royal Air Force this year would be about £10,000,000. Although the figure named is provisional, this is the first indication the public has had about the supplementary estimates which the new defence programme will necessitate.
Mr Chamberlain added that the Air Estimates for 1937 and 1938 would substantially exceed the aggregate of two years' original and supplementary estimates.
