WELLINGTON RETAINS TROPHY [BY TKMiCRAI'H —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Monday Defeating the Auckland Harbour Board's cricket eleven by 82 runs, a tram representing the Wellington Harbour Board retained the Barnett Shield in the annual match, which was finished nt Kelburn Park to-day. On Saturday, Auckland established a firstinnings lead of 25 runs, but the AWllingion team put a changed complexion on the game when play was resumed to-day. Though the scoring wna slow, the batsmen managed to stay at (lie wickets, and at 2.45 p.m. the innings was declared closed with 1.43 runs on the board fur the loss of eight wickets. A. McLean was unbeaten for 74, but four chances he gave were not accepted. When Auckland went to the crease for its second innings, it required 159 runs for a win, but the side collapsed badly, and in under two hours nil the batsmen had been sent back to the pavilion for a total of 76 runs. .T. E. Johnson (22) and V. Christinnson (15) were the only two batsmen to reach double figures. The bowling of M. Henderson proved deudly. and lie finished with a tally of six wickets for 43 runs.
