FINE DEER HEAD
STALKING PARTY'S SUCCESS POSSIBLY RECORD TROPHY [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION'] INVERCARGILL. Saturday During the past few weeks stalking parties ?n the lakes district have reported many good red deer and wapiti heads, but what is undoubtedly the head of the season so far has been reported from Kinloch. Messrs. J. Stone and E. N. Strain, of Dunedin, accompanied by a guide, Mr. R. H. Bryant, secured a white-tailed Virginian deer with a head of 16 points. It is believed that nothing approaching this has ever been secured in New Zealand before, and steps are now being taken to see if it has ever been equalled overseas.
