CO-ORDINATION OF WORK NEW BUILDING AT PALMERSTON [most OUR own* correspondent] HAMILTON, Saturday "The reorganisation of the Department of Agriculture is being carried out with the view to eliminating the overlapping that has been in evidence in the past," said the Hon. W. Lee Martin,' Minister of Agriculture, at a meeting of the Matangi branch of the Farmers'- Union. To this end, he added, ; the activities of Massey College, the Wallaceville Laboratory, the Cawthron Institute, Lincoln College and the Agriculture Dejxartment were being co-ordinated. Many changes were being made which would result in greater efficiency. When the changes were made Wallaceville Laboratory would play a more prominent part than it had done in the past, said the Minister. It would come under the control of the Department of Agriculture and it would become the centre of scientific research in animal diseases and other activities. Continuing, Mr. Martin said the ramshackle buildings in which the research officers worked at Palmerston North, three miles away from Massey College, would be replaced by modern and. commodipus premises alongside the experimental plots at the college. Dr. Cunningham, who recently tendered his resignation owing to the unsatisfactory conditions under which he was required to work at Palmerston North, had been approached, and the speaker believed that.
