HOLIDAY TONE DEVELOPS NO MOVEMENT IN VALUES FINEST AT 88/- TO 89/B tidiness in New Zealand butter in London is being influenced by the holiday tone iu the commodity markets. A Press Association cablegram from London states that owing to the Easter vacation markets generally are featureless. Butter is quiet and irregular, following a rise early in tho week. The Dairy Board's latest quotations show no change on those reported on Saturday New Zealand finest butter continues to sell at 88s to 80s per cwt., as against 77s to 78s at this period last year. Tho board has received tho following market report from its London olfieo, dated April 9, last week's figures being givey in parentheses:— Butter. —New Zealand, salted, 88s to 89s, equals approximately 10.30 d f.o.b. (87s to 88s); unsalted, 89s to 90s (80s to 87s). Deliveries: Ne\v J Zealand, 1598 tons (last year, 2168 tons). In store, 2597 tons (last year, 4815 tons). Australian, salted, 88s to 89s (86s to S7s); unsalted, 88s (80s t0.875). Danish, 85s f.0.b.; 108s spot (80s, 110s).«*Dutch, unsalted, 80s to 88s (85s to 88s). Saturday The Maungaturoto Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, will pay out for March butter-fat to suppliers on Wednesday £7883 at the rate of 9Jd per lb. superfine, as against £6395 for the same month in 1935, when the payout was 7-Jd per lb. for superfine. The company is experiencing one of the most" successful seasons for many years. Production for March of 114 tons showed an increase of 14 tons over that of the corresponding month last year. For the season to date a total of 978 tons has been manufactured, as against 925 tons over the same period last season. The Maungaturoto Company is one of the few factories in North Auckland to show an increase this year over the previous year's tonnage. Including the payment to be made on Wednesday, the suppliers of the company will have received £77,681 for the season, as compared with £54,193 over the same period in 1934-35. The chief interest centred in the cattle, of which there was a medium yarding. mainly comprising light, fat and for-ward-conditioned beasts. Competition was firm, and late rates were maintained in all classes. There was an average yarding of pigs, mostly weaners, but competition generally was dull. Sheep were not plentiful. fut ewes being the only entry.
