TE KUITI AERODROME

FINAL TESTING OF SURFACE ["from our own correspondent) TE KUITI. Friday The grassing of the Te Kuiti aerodrome is now practically completed, and the two main runways are already showing up green with the assistance of the present spell of warm autumn weather. Before tho runways wcro sown down a severe test was given tho ground. The president of the Aero Club, Mr. fl. T. Morton, accompanied by the officer in charge of the Public Works Department, Mr. C. Johnston, motored over the ground at a speed of 36 miles an hour. The car ran at this speed without the slightest unevenness. For weeks past three (havs and three teams of men have been busy filling in numerous depressions in tho ground, and tho final result js very encouraging. Visiting pilots are particularly requested not to land on the aerodrome until tho new grass is properly established —probably in about six or eight weeks' time. It is felt that tho aerodrome when finally completed will be a great asset to the Te Kuiti district.
