REVIEW OF ACTIVITIES The monthly meeting of the Auckland branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday morning. Mrs. J. C. Allan presided. The report of the charge nurse showed that 185 new baby cases had been seen, 1131 visits had been pnid to homes, and 8057 babies and their mothers hnd attended the various offices during the month of March. In reply to criticism recently levelled at the society as to the advisability of saving the lives of premature babies. Miss Hunt, matron of tlio Trilby King Karitane Hospital, gave interesting accounts of cases which had come under her own supervision, who with ordinary care had made excellent progress and had attained normal weight at a very early age. The names were mentioned of many world-famous men who had been prematurely born. Arrangements were made for collecting on iPoppy Day. A donation of £5 was received from the Thames branch for £he Truby King Karitane Hospital, ami a handsome donation of £SO had been given by Lady Myers to the hospital. This was being used to replace much needed furnishings. Mr. K. B. Myers has been appointed to the advisory board of the Auckland branch.
A sub-committee consisting of Mesdames W. McKail Geddes (convener), R. P. Towle, K. B. Myers, J. H. Prater, A. Donald, H. R. Kirker and Brum Mackenzie, with power to add to their numbers, was appointed to make arrangements for a Plunket ball. A sub-committee was also appointed to go into the matter of the Truby King Junior League. Those appointed were Mesdames E. J. Wilkinson* (convener), L. J, Shrubsall, C. Webb, G. M. Fowlds, L. ,C. H. Dawson and M. Campbell.
