SEA WALL AT THAMES
DAMAGE AFTER GALE ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIRS [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] THAMES. Wcdnesdny The heavy swell subsequent to the eyclonic storm of March 26 caused extensive damage to the rubble sea wall supporting the main highway at Tararu, which had collapsed for about 150 chains and would have to bo rebuilt, the borough engineer reported to the Thames Advisory Committee last night. The sea wall at Robert Street had been partially wrecked, the engineer added. The estimated cost of repairs to the retaining wall was from £"600 to £9OO, with up to £3OOO for a concrete structure. Temporary repairs would bo made until such time as the position of the council's future responsibility for the highway was clearly defined.
