NOTES FROM EVERYWHERE TRACK AND STABLE GOSSIP Gold Trail, who was mated with Pantheon •in Australia, has returned to New Zealand. Pantheon is the sire of Peter Pan and of several other valuable gallopers. Horses with double engagements at Riverton on Easter Saturday are King Willow, Pink Del, Waiau Maid, Newsreel, Pallaform, Queen of Song, Song Boy, Double Shot, Wild Career, Salmo Salar, Slaemish and Enwood. The imported horse March Along died recently at Mr. H. Docker's property, Aberdeen Stud, Wangaratta. Imported from England in 1922 by the late Mr. J. Brown, March Along sired a number of useful gallopers, among them being Adeline's March, Lightning March, Adrian's March and Elizabeth March. The Hawke's Bay Cup on Saturday was the 62nd of the series, the event being one of the oldest on the calendar. However, only once before has there been a dead-heat. This was in 1926, when Star Stranger and Opa shared the honours, the distance then being a mile and a-half. Tho Invercargill apprentice jockey, C. T. Wilson, whose term with J. A. Rowland will expire shortly, has decided to move to Riccarton, and be will join C. Emerson's stable, reports the Herald's Christchurch correspondent. Wilson has been one of the most successful young horsemen in the South Island in recent years. When Pladio dead-heated with Big Dook at Hastings last Saturday tho former was in receipt of 111b. In tho Easter Handicap at Tauherenikau tho difference between them is 151b., which definitely favours Pladie. The contour of the course and the fact that Pladie is the more likely to improve leave little doubt as to which horse will be favourite. Observers in the South have been expecting an early win from Liane, who is in the Wairarapa Nursery Handicap on Saturday. The fillv has the same dam as Deiium, who has been racing for some time with occasional success on the West Coast of the South Island and who won on tho second day of tho Westport meeting. Deiium is fast but neither sound nor solid.

Between his two Waimafe Cup victories, Nightform had won only one race, but his pilot on both cup occasions had made rapid strides in his calling. This was E. J. Pinn, the Washdyke apprentice, who won his first race on Nightform. Last Saturday he claimed a three pounds apprentice allowance for the last time, as it marked his thirtieth win. Nightform is expected to he an improved horse at Riverton.

Joviality had revealed ability in Taranaki prior to his running at the east coast meetings. A close second at Hawera was followed by a similar placing at Napier Park, yet the colt was allowed to go out for tho Poukawa Maiden Race at a good price. Not only on performances, but on looks and breeding, he was entitled to the position of favourite, and it will be a long time before he is again at such liberal odds. Joviality is a brother to Merry Peel and half-brother to Merry Damon.

Charade, who ran Royal Banquet to a head in the Heretaunga Handicap, nine furlongs, at Hastings, began racing only a month ago, this heing her third start. She is in a maiden event at Waipukurau, and many will expect her to open her winning record on Monday. She is a three-year-old full-sister to Cleaner and Father's Choice, and is owned by Mr. A. W. Meikle, who races another smart filly, Candico. Tho latter is trained by J. H. Jefferd, while Charade is in the stable of H. S. Greene. TROTTING FIXTURES April 11, 13—Hawera Trotting Club. April 11, 15—Metropolitan Trotting Club April 18—Ashburton Trotting Club. April 18, '22—Manawatu Trotting Club. April 30. Msv 2 Forbury Park Trottine Club.
