the latest arrivals SCOTCH NATION INCLUDED SCRATCHINGS POSTED GRATEFUL WITHDRAWN More visitors for the Auckland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, to be held on Saturday and Monday, reached Ellersjj e yesterday, and among the arrivals v ere Scotch Nation, a popular fancy for the Brighton Hurdles, Keith Lu, floyal Secret, Lagoon, Mungacre, Mun- " gatoon, Entheos, Oratory, Diamond, Cricket, PakiuYui, Fulojoy, Korero, Jlaine and HAppy Landing. Tho presence of these horses will add considerably to the interest in the training operations this morning, when it is probable that the outside of the course proper will be used for the final gallops. Starting times for the first day's racing at the Auckland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting are as follows: —12.2 President's Handicap,. 12.42 G.N. Oaks Stakes, 1.27 Brighton Hurdles, 2.12 Easter Handicap, 2.52 G.N. Champagne Stakes, 3.32 Maugere Steeplechase, 4.12 Onslow Stakes, 4.57 Eden Handicap. The doubt whether Grateful would be brought irom New Plymouth to contest the Easter Handicap was cleared up yesterday, when he was struck out'of all engagements at the meeting at 3.17 p.m. A few otfier withdrawals were also posted and the* fact that Royal Appellant was scratched for the President's Handicap makes it appear practically certain that he will contest the Easter Handicap. The scratchings announced yesterday were as follows: President's /Handicap.—Royal Appellant, 9.16 a.m. Great Northern Champagne Stakes.— Candico, 9.50 a.m. All Engagements.—Grateful, 3.17 p.m. APPEAL DISMISSED CASE OF P. ATKINS JUDGMENT OF FINAL COURT [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, "Wednesday The appeal by P. Atkins, the jockey, against the decision of the Wellington ■/District Committee in upholding the decision of the judicial committee of the Wellington Racing Club in suspending his licence for three months from March 17 last, has been dismissed by the judges of the New Zealand Racing Conference. Their judgment is as follows:—"We have carefully considered Atkins' appeal and we are satisfied that although Atkins was not present during the whole time evidence was being taken by the judicial committee of the Wellington Racing Club during its investigations into the cause of Gay Chief's falling in the Pacific Handicap, run on March 14, he was not prejudiced thereby, as in his appeal before the Wellington District Committee, he had every opportunity, of which he availed himself, of heairing all the evidence, of questioning all the witnesses and bringing further evidence. We consider that Atkins' appeal should not be allowed. We order the'deposit to be refunded." The appeal judges were Messrs. D. E. Wanklyn, James McLeod and L. W. Nelson.

' DOUBT ABOUT GRATEFUL DAVISTOCK AN ACCEPTOR [by telegraph—owx corresponded] NEW PLYMOUTH. Wednesday Although Grateful is recovering from his attack of eczema, his trainer decided that the consequent let-up would not enable him to be fit for the Easter Handicap at Ellerslie and he was scratched this afternoon. Grateful is 3n acceptor in the Feilding Cup and there is a possibility that he will make the trip there. Davistoek is an acceptor,, with 8.9, for the Easter Handicap at Tauherenikau (although he did not appear in the published list) and R. Johnson states that both Davistoek and Glenvane will probably race at that meeting. / TE RAPA TRACK WORK ADALENE BEATS SINKING FUND [by telegraph OWN* correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday The course proper and the plough track were open at Te Rapa this morning, but thick fog delayed operations until a late hour.
