MAIL CAR ROBBED
HOLD-UP BY MASKED MAN INCIDENT IN QUEENSLAND A mail car ranning between Eidsvold and Cracow, Queensland, was held n P recently by an armed, mJisked who made off with £I4OO in cash M® seven bags of mail, including 12 registered parcels. About 6 o'clock the driver of tM car, Charles Williams, had to stop b ls vehicle to open a wire gate, 14 mil# from Cracow. His passenger. Mrs. McDowell, alighted to open it, but m soon as she stepped to the ground, ® man armed with a rifle ran at her pointing the weapon menacingly toward her. He made Williams and' Mrs. McDowell walk 100 yards back on tM road. He then jumped into the turned it round, and made off at top speed. The money was the fortnightly P 9 " for employees of the Golden mine. Williams and Mrs. McDowell haa to walk into Cracow, -where they notified the police. The mail car was foun fl abandoned in the bush about two mile' from Cracow. All the registered m a!l had been opened and valuables stolenand other mail matter was scattered over the countryside. Tiro detectives from Brisbane travelled to> Cracow by aeroplane to investigate the robbery.
