75 MILES AN HOUR
SPEED OF MOTORIST CANCELLATION OF LICENCE Evidence that defendant reached 75 miles an hour when driving a motorcar along the waterfront road was given in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, when Robert H. Clapbam appeared before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., on a charge of dangerous driving. Ha was fined £4 and his licence was cancelled for three months.
Altogether, 55 cases arising out of traffic; offences were heard by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., and Mr. McKoan, the most common breaches being negligent driving, insufficient lights, dangerous driving and parking offences. t Several motorists were fined for travelling at an excessive speed over a section of the Great South Road between the Harp of Erin and Penrose, at the intersection of Jubilee Road, when there is a speed restriction on account of a school. Mr. Hunt said the attention of the public should be drawn to the existence of a 15 miles an hour speed restriction at this spot.
