STOLEN TARPAULIN

Wednesday Margaret Makai was charged in tho Magistrate's Court to-day with tho theft of a tarpaulin valued at. £4 2s, the property of the New Zealand Railway Department, The tarpaulin was borrowed from the Railway Department by the Public Works Department for covering chips for the laying down of tar-sealing, and Makai, finding it on the road, took possession of it. She was convicted and fined £4, costs, ss, and was ordered to return the stolen article.
