RETIRING REGISTRAR

MR. NORRIS FAREWELLED WORK FOR UNIVERSITY- • - - ' * [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] \ WELLINGTON, Wednesdir The retiring registrar of the Uniyersity of New Zealand, Mr. E. T. Nor* ns, was farewelled at a luncheon today by the Wellington branch of the Christchurch Boys' High School Old Boys' Association, of which he has been president since 1920. The Rt. Hon. 6. W. Forbes, who presided, said that when Mr. Norris was at the school he' was classed as a super-boy, and he thought he had maintained himself in that class ever since. The university and the old boys were both very much in Kis debt for the splendid work he had done. Mr. Forbes read a. letter from the present headmaster of'the school, Mr. G. J. Lancaster, which expressed the school's gratitude for Mr. Norris' work and his never-failing interest in the school's welfare. Mr. Forbes wished Mr. Norris a happy voyage to England, and presented him, on behalf-of the branch, with a travelling rug. ' "I have laid down my with very real regret," said Mr. Norris, "both as far as the university is concerned and also those relating to the activities of this branch of onr a 8$0» ciation. Whatever work I have been able to do I have performed with real pleasure."
