STEAMER'S TROUBLES
DELAY AT NEW PLYMOUTH [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] NEW PLYMOUTH, Tucßdny After being three weeks at the New Plymouth wharves the New Zealand Shipping Company's chartered steamer Anglo Indian moved into tho stream this evening to make room for other ships and to await destination orders. In those three weeks the ship has several times been in difficulties. When she arrived with basic slag to discharge a dispute arose over tho watersiders' demand for "dirt" money. The dispute was settled and unloading was completed. No destination orders were received, however, and the 'ship remained at the wliarws day after day until last night, whon it was decided to move her into the stream. When the anchor was being weighed tho chain snapped at a weak link and the pick sank to the harbour floor. The ship returned to the wharf and to-day a diver located the anchor and repairs were effected. l'he Anglp Indian 13 now in tho stream and unless orders are received promptly will steam to Guards Bay or other sheltered anchorage in the sounds to await orders. It is probable the vessel will go to Australia to load bulk grain for Britain.
