GOLDEN WEDDING
WR. AND MRS. H. CADNESS
The 50th anniversary of the wedding of Mr. Herbert Cadness and Mrs. Cadness will be celebrated to-day at a family gathering at their home in Princes Street, Northcote. Both were born at Manchester, England, and they were married at Auckland on April 8, ISB6, the Rev. C. Worboys officiating. For the past 49 years they have resided at Northcote. Mr. Cadness was the Northcote Riding member of the Waitemata County Council from 1905 until the constitution of the borough early in 1908 He became Mayor of Northcote in December, 1908, and was re-elected for two successive terms. In business Mr. Cadness is best known in shipping circles. He joined the firm of John Nearing and Company, Limited, and after the retirement of Captain Nearing/ became a partner, retiring from business five years ago. Mr. and Mrs."Cadness hare four sons and two daughters. There are also 10 grandchildren.
