HOUSE ENTERED GUEST'S PROPERTY STOLEN LOSS ESTIMATED AT £SO [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday A daring robbery occurred at the home of Mrs. C. Henwood, of Te Rapa, shortly after dark last evening, when the house was entered and a handbag containing £8 in money and five rings, of a total value of £SO, the property of a guest, Mrs. E. A. Vincent, of Eitham, was stolen. Mrs. Vincent, who is a niece of Mrs. Henwood, arrived from Taranaki shortly after 5 p.m. Mrs. Vincent left the front bedroom, where she had left her handbag, at about 7 p.m., and was engaged in writing letters in a back room of the house. Within a quarter of an hour she returned to the bedroom and found that the handbag and its contents had disappeared.
The police wera informed, and an investigation showed that- an entry had apparently been made through the front bedroom window, which had not been locked.
Numerous complaints of thefts from houses at Te Rapa and Hillcrest have been received by the police during the last fortnight. Mrs. Vincent's loss is the most serious of those reported.
