EXPRESS DELAYED
WELLINGTON TEAIN PALMERSTON DERAILMENT ARRIVAL TIME UNCERTAIN The arrival of the first express from Wellington, scheduled to reach Auckland at 7.6 a.m., is expected to be late this morning, owing to the derailment of a waggon of a goods train near Palmerston North yesterday. Shortly before.five o'clock yesterday afternoon a wagp;on on a poods train running from Marton to Palmerston North jumped the rails on a curve some distance on the Feilding side of Terrace 'End railway station. After considerable delay the goods train was taken on to the Palmerston North station, where it arrived at 8.38 p.m., and a few minutes later the northbound express, which usually leaves Palmerston North at 6 p.m., was despatched on its journey nortl}. Early this morning railway officials stated that it would be difficult to estimate how late the express would be in arriving at Auckland. A good deal depended upon the crossings with other expresses running south, and, although it was probable that the northbound train would make up time, its arrival in Auckland would be considerably delayed. Expresses which left for Wellington last night would not be delayed as a result of the derailment.
