MATAMATA HIGH SCHOOL
REQUEST BY COMMITTEE RECLASSIFICATION SOUGHT [FROM OtTB OWN* CORRESPONDENT] MATAMATA, Tuesday The question of the reclassification j of the Matamata District High School i was again discussed by the School Com-1 mittee to-day. It was decided to for-! ward the following resolution to the! Auckland Education Board:— ! "That this committee is not satisfied with the board's treatment of its application to have the Matamata District High School classified as an agricultural and technical high school and requests that the application be given further consideration. The committee cannot accept as final the board's statement with regard to the number of pupils necessary for such; classification, as other schools • have : approximately the same attendance aa'Matamata." A petition and a letter from Okauia residents asking that tho Okauia-j school be reopened, was'referred to the committee by the Education Board i for its opinion. The committee decided to recommend that the school be reopened as a native school.
