NORTH SHORE MATCHES
SCORING DISAPPOINTS The first monthly medal competition at North Shore attracted a large entry and, as the course was in splendid order, the scoring generally was disappointing. There were exertions and no fault can be found with A. E. Browne's card of 73, 3 —70, which led the field. Browno played steadily to the turn, which he reached in 39, but he revealed his best form by covering the last nine in two under fours. Apart from the last two holes, where he required a 5 and a 6, Miles Nelson played soundly to be irtiAiier-upj H. Preston being next. G. AtWood, from the limit, was the best of the juniors, and he was followed closely by J. Weir and A. W. Mason, who each returned cards of 72 net. Youth was also to the fore at Akarana, where S. Bryant, who appears to be liberally treated on an 8 handicap, led the field in the first medal match of the season.
