CLUB COMPETITIONS EXCELLENT CARDS RETURNED J. H. YOUNG RETAINS FORM BY THE ROVER Conditions for golf during the weekend were almost ideal and although the fairways were fast there was sufficient grass on the greens for them to be holding. Probably the most pleasing feature of Saturday's competitions was that excellent cards were returned by a number of young players. Until a few years ago most of the local events were won by players of long experience, but it appears that the time is arriving when the veterans must give way to youth. Playing in tho Taylor Bowl competition at Titirangi, J. H. Young repeated his performance of the previous week by breaking 70. Should he retain his form it is difficult to imagine anyone beating him in the Auckland provincial championship, which will be commenced at Titirangi next Saturday.
