AIR MAIL DELAYS
LETTERS FOR LONDON t. . DESPATCH FROM DOMINION LONG WAIT IN SYDNEY. Air-mail from New Zealand is not included in the despatch by the Empire air service due in London on March 16, as no connecting steamer has been available between the Dominion and Australia. A considerable quantity of air-mail will bo taken by the Wanganella, which is now scheduled to sail from Auckland for Sydney on Monday afternoon, but this will lie in Sydney until the following Tuesday, when there will be the next despatch for Cootarnundra. The last despatch of air-mail from New Zealand was by the Mariposa, which left Auckland for Sydney on February 21. The next air-mail, after that to be carried by the Wanganella, will be taken by the Monowai, which is scheduled to leave Auckland for Sydney next Friday afternoon. Thus the airmail of both vessels will reach London on March 22. INWARD CONSIGNMENTS ARRIVAL NEXT WEEK An Empire air-mail which left London on February 9 will reach New Zealand from Sydney next week in three consignments. The northern portion of tho mail will arrive at Auckland by the Aorangi on Monday morning and the Wellington portion will reach Wellington by the Monowai on Monday afternoon. The southern portion will reach Bluff by the Waikouaiti on Tuesday. The air-mail will be 22 days in transit from London to Auckland owing to it having been delayed over three days en route from London to Australia and then being further delayed at Sydney waiting to connect with a vessel coming to New Zealand. The mail should havo reached Sydney from London on Friday. February 21, but cabled advice irom Australia stated that it was delayed. Jt was expected to arrive at Sydney last Monday, but it must have been further delayed because it did not connect with the Wanganella which left Sydney at 11.30 p.m. on Monday and arrived at Auckland yesterday morning.
