CRACKER EXPLODED
INCIDENT IN THEATRE AUDIENCE ALARMED CHARGE AGAINST YOUTH "The programme was stopped and the audience thrown into consternation through the defendant's action, in exploding ft cracker," said Sub-Inspector Fox- in the Police Court yesterday when a youth, Laurence R. Dvson, admitted a charge of disorderly conduct "t the Delta Theatre, New Lynn, on January 22 - , , Sub-Inspector Fox said that a picture was being shown in which bombs were being dropped from zeppelins. Just as thev were landing the defendant exploded the cracker. The lights were put on and the manager came forward and offered a reward of £5 for the identification of the culprit. Dyson was identified? but at the time refused to givo his name and went away. Later he was interviewed by the police and gave a frank account of tho happening.
"J. did not mean to do any wrong," said defendant to tho magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson.
The magistrate said lie did not think that it was an act of larrikinism. It was more a thoughtless act of foolish-
ness. Dyson was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
