LARGE PARTY ARRIVES BRITAIN AND SOUTH AFRICA TOUR OF THE DOMINION A party of over 40 British and South African farmers and others interested in farming arrived at Auckland by the Wanganella yesterday to make n "good will" tour of New Zealand. The leader of the party is Major-General F. J. Duncan, organising secretary of t)io British National Union, which has arranged the tour in conjunction with the Overseas League. Membors of the party wore not inclined yesterday to discuss British and Empire farming from the aspect of market regulation, levies and quotas. They stated that differences of opinion probably existed, but perhaps their principal objective on the tour was to get to know and understand the New Zealand farmer's point of view. Not all the visitors are farmers. One is interested in veterinary science, while another is a lecturer at an English agricultural college. Others have no direct interest in farming. The party is staying at the Hotel Cargen but will leave for Hamilton to-morrow. During their tour they will visit Waitomo Caves, New Plymouth, Hawera, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Masterton, Wellington, Christchurch, Invercargill, Queenstown, Dunedin, Napier, Hastings, Wairakei and Rotorua. At each centre the visitors will be givon an opportunity to see the surrounding farming country, and receptions will be tendered to them by agricultural and farmers' organisations, Tho members of tho party who come from Great Britain are as follows: — Mr. A. Smith, Mr. E. C. i Voysey, Mrs. Murray-Baillie, Mrs. H. Silcock, Miss E. Carnes, Miss E, Pratt, ! Misses O. J. Vaughan-Pnce, Miss D. M. Ma let, Miss K. M. Parker, Mrs. S. H. Jopling. The South African party is as follows:—Mr. H, H. Dilley, Mr. and Mrs. J. Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. J. Wreford, | Mr. W. E. Birch, Mr. E. Bishop, Mr. and Mrs. F. Van Zyl, Mr, and Mrs, 0. W. Albrecht, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Naude, Dr. A. H. Ernst, Mr, M. 11. Boon, Mr. J. Fisher, Mrs, M. Macfarlane, Mrs. M. S. Cole and Mrsf, M. Cloete. Mr. Dilley is president of the Transvaal Fruit Growing Association, and Mr. Fisher is president of the Natal School of Agriculture. After the tour of the Dominion the party will return to Auckland on March 30 and will leave the following day by the Niagara for Canada, i g, s ggsgg - . .
