MARKET FOR CHEESE
POSSIBILITIES IN INDIA SHIPPING THE CHIEF PROBLEM [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] iNEW PLYMOUTH. Thursday < The possibilities of a market in Imdj* for New Zealand cheese, ifmade available at a ivasonable price, were emphasised by Mr. R. E. Fisher, who has returned after a trip to India, Ceylon and Australia. He stated that inquiries in India indicated that a large market was available there for cheese,, butter and canned fruits. The transhipping system, however, was unsatisfactory and detrimental to New Zealand enterprise* as it was most irregular. If the shipping difficulties could be overcome great potentialities lay in the Indian markets. .At the present time, saiil Mr. Fisher, what New Zealand butter or cheese was bought in India came through London agents. He knew several business men in India who had been persuaded to try it and liked it. so much that they ha ordered more immediately.
