NOT SUITABLY DRESSED
VISITORS TO WARSHIP GIRLS IN BATHING COSTUME While the Imperial sloop H.M.S. Leith was open for inspection at Castlecliff, Wanganui, a young woman went on board in her bathing costume and was promptly ordered off the ship by a petty officer. A dense crowd had formed on tho wharf and visitors were being allowed on board in relays only. At the foot of the gangway was a bluejacket. A* the first woman in a bathing costume was leaving the ship two others similarly attired commenced to move up the gangway. "Don't allow any more women in bathing costumes on board," the officer ordered, using very correct English. "Aye, aye, sir," said tho sailor. "Here, come back, you dainesl" Tho "dames" retired crestfallen.
