MONETARY POLICY
COUNTY LOAN RENEWAL MINISTER'S INDICATION [DT TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] GISBORNE. Thursday The Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, has written to the Gisborne Borough Council in reply to the council's question of how the Government's policy would affect tho council's loan maturing on July 4. The Minister, in a letter read at last night's council meeting, stated: —"While there will be changes made relative to banking and credit, it is unlikely that they will be of such a nature as to affect the renewal of the loan suggested by you, and I would suggest that the borough takes the usual steps for tho raising of the money required." It was decided to take steps to raise a loan of £2700 to repay the balance of the £5500 loan on lloebuek Boad Bridge, expiring in July.
