YIELDS OF COMPANIES Mataki Junction (Murchison).— Fortnight ended February 20. working part time, 102oz. from 30,000 yds. THAMES MINES SCHOOL TWO MONTHS' OPERATIONS [bt telecraph—oirs correspondent] THAMES, Tuesday A meeting of the Thames School of Mines Council was held last evening. The director, Mr. H. Crawford, reported on the last two months' work as follows:—Thirty-four loads had been treated in the battery for a return of 399 oz. 13d'.vts of bullion, valued at £1734 and 492 assays had been put through. Ninety-five tons had been treated for the Sylvia Mine Development, Limited, for a return of tons of concentrates, which had been assayed, bagged and sent to Australia. Reference was made to the results of the examinations and satisfaction was expressed at the high marks obtained and the fact that two students had secured scholarships. The council gave consideration to matters to be brought before the Minister of Mines, Hon. P. C. Webb, on his coming visit to Thames. REPORTS OF MANAGERS Big River (Reefton). —Shaft repairs have continued satisfactorily. There still remains 30ft. of shaft below No. 4 level to be straightened. No further movement in No. 4 level has taken place. Some repairs to No. 3 and No. 4 levels have been carried out. Dawn of Hope (Thames).—The store between No. 1 and 2 winzes is high grade ore and a few pounds of specimen stone is being selected at each breaking down. The crushing of three loads of ore from this stope gave a return of 220z. 4dwt. of melted gold. The stope on the specimen lead is also looking well. The last breaking down produced about four pound# of specimen stone.
