VON LUCKNER MEMENTO
GIFT TO SCOW OWNER A table runner from the launch Pearl, in which Count Felix von Luckner. and his companions escaped from Motuihi Island, where they were interned during the Great War, is in the possession of Mr. W. F. McClinchie, of Oniokoroa. On one end of the runner is a neat Hag in appliqi#3 and the name Pearl is embroidered at the other. It will be remembered that Count von Luckner and his men stopped and boarded the scow Moa on her way from Oniokoroa to Auckland with a cargo of timber, and then made their way to the Kermadecs, where they were recaptured and brought back to Auckland. The runner was given by Count von Luckner to Captain Burke, of the Moa,, from whom Mr. McClinchie received it.
