BALANCING FEAT
A striking example of determination was mentioned recently by Mr. F. W. Gresham, a Christchurch dentist. While travelling in Japan lie noticed a little Japanese girl, not more than 12. who though handicapped by a baby strapped across her back and another strapped across her chest, was doing her best to master the English game of hopscotch. Her struggles to maintain her balance were gallant and amusing, said Air. Gresham. It was a common thing, he said,, for Japanese children to take their younger sisters or to school, strapped to their backs.
