MURDERS IN PAPUA
EUROPEAN FOUND GUILfY DEATH! SENTENCE PASSED (Received February 24, 11.15 p.m.) RABATJL, Feb. 24 On a charge of the murder of a native near the headwaters of the Karawari River, a tributary of the Sepik River, Papua, Ludwig Schmidt was found, guilty and sentenced to death. This was the second time this month that Schmidt had been found guilty of wilful murder and sentenced to death, and a third case is now proceeding. The Judge described the crime as coldblooded and brutal murder.
