Monday The defeat of Whangarei by Old Boys on Saturday in the Whangarei Cricket Association's senior championship competition camo lis a surprise to followers of tho game. Whangarei had shared with Nomads and Combined Services the lead. However, as both those teams won their respective matches, Whangarei has now dropped back to_ second position. • The following are the results:—Whangarei* 145 (Nisbet 39, Lindgard 35), lost to Old lioys, 147 (Williams 72, Coote 23). At Onerahi Maungakaramea, 104 (Bercich 39), defeated Onerahi. 98 (Fyfe 31 not out, J. Drake 27). For Onerahi J. Drake took four wickets for 14 and for Maungakaramea Fayne took four for 27. High School, on their own turf wicket, made 114 (Murdoch 21) against Nomads, 170 for three (Badeley 103 not out. Godfrey 26, Dunning 27 not out. Combined Services dismissed Hikurangi for 74 (Laurie 62), and 112 (Laurie 73), having declared with 103 for three wickets (G. L. Weir 70). G. L. Weir, for Combined Services, took six wickets for 11 and four for 32 respectively. CAMBRIDGE COMPETITIONS [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Monday In continuation of the _ Cambridge Cricket Association's championship, tho final round was opened on Saturday. High School compiled 140, to which Services replied with 63 in the first innings. For High School tho best scores were C. Boyce, 58, and E. Muller, 22. Bowling: Lowe took four for 23, Chard throe for 2G. Services were below form and batted only seven men. Wylde, 45, and Macdonald, 8, were the beßt scorers. Bowling: I3att took two for 3, Humphries three for 25. Leamington, playing City, wero all out for 60 (L. McKinnon 21, D. MeKinnon 19). Oldficld took four wickets and Crawshaw tlireo. MATCH AT TE AWAMUTU [from our own correspondent] TE AWAMUTU, Monday The Waipa Cricket Association's championship was continued in showery weather. United, playing Te Awamutu, was dismissed for 43. Morgan took four wickets for 'l4 runs and N. Rusden four for 12. Te Awamutu hud lost two wickets for 00 runs when stumps were drawn. Gell. 39 not out, und Rusden. not out 11, being the principal contributors. Vines and Robinson each captured one wicket. Manby 51, Harriman 24) and for Whakatane Bridger took four wickets for 32. Whakatane made 63 (Bridger 14 not out).
