NOTES FROM WHANGAREI
CROQUET CLUB AT HOME The members of the Portland Croquet Club held an At Home on their lawns last week when several members of the Whangarei Croquet Club were their guests. The president of the former club welcomed the guests. Among those present were:—Mrs. W. Williams, Mrs. E. Leese, Mrs. A. J. Pink, Mrs. JR. L. Wilson, Mrs. A. Neal. Mrs. R. Thackeray, Mrs. G. H. Morrish. Mrs. V. Peterwood, Mrs. F. Gower, Mrs. G. Harrison, Mrs. R. Conneil, Mrs. M. Connell, Mrs. T. E. Woodman, Mrs. W. G. Whitmore, Mrs. D. X. McLeod, Mrs. J. A. Finlavson and Mrs. T. R. Caplin. Several members of the Kensington Croquet Club journeyed on Thursday to Waipu, where they were the guests of the Waipu Croquet Club. The visitors were welcomed by Mrs. Durham, president, who expressed the hope that the visits between the two clubs would be frequent. Afternoon tea wes served in the pavilion, the tables being decorated with a profusion of seasonable flowers. A series of friendly games was played. Mrs. A. Fairley, president of the Kensington Club, returned thanks for the enjovable dav.
