Time, lm 58s. ■ ELLERSLIE TRAINING ON PARADE GOES SOLIDLY ROUND BY ROYAL APPELLANT The majoritv of the fast work at Ellerslie on Saturday morning was accomplished on the No. 2 grass, the going being a trifle soft. A feature of the. morning's gallops was a solid round by On Parade and Knight of Australia, who finished several lengths in front of Roman Mascot. Bayora was not extended while running six furlongs in 1.23 4-5, Lady Yule recording 1.24 3-5 over a similar distance. Kelly, who bears a bright appearance, was going better than Courthaven at the end of six furlongs in 1.19. On Parade was just in front of Knight of Australia, with Roman Mas-, cot several lengths back, at tho end of a round in 1.46 3-5, the last seven furlongs taking 1.32 4-5. Marlene displayed plenty of dash in running three furlongs in 38s. Fleetwind was not doing her best at the end of six furlongs in 1.21 1-5, tho last three in 40 4-ss. Royal Appellant recorded a solid effort over a round in 1.46 4-5, the last Koven furlongs in 1.34 and tho last four in 54 3-ss. Royal Appellant worked in good stylo. After running tho first furlong in 13s, Prince Abb and Palardo completed half a mile in 51 3-us. Lone Flyer, who is making steady progress, covered an easy half-mile in 58s. Sir Abb was slightly in front of Wee Pat at the end of seven furlongs in 1.34 1-5, the last four in 53 2-ss. Gay Broney and Vera Acre were together at the end of a round in 1.50 4—5. They' ran the last six furlongs in 1.21 1-5, and tLa last half-mile in 545. Gay Princess was going better than the Speardance-Maveelish filly at the end of live furlongs in 1.5 4-5. Gallant Knight and Tidalia were both going strongly at tho completion of four furlongs in GO 3-ss, the best of tho morning over tho distance. To Broney was not asked for his best while running seven furlongs in 1.39 4-5. On the sand Valspear ran six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. Saltspray was given strong work. After running tho first furlong in 13 4-ss, Marjory Daw sprinted three furlongs on the two-year-old track in 39 1.55. Kilmuir (Burgess) jumped two hurdles safely, and, afterwards, accompanied by Tea Chat (Sharkey) gave a good display over two more fences. TRAINER'S QUICK TRIP TRAVEL BY AEROPLANE Some smart travelling was accomplished on Saturday by tho trainer H. Duliou. Earlier in tho week ho had arrived at To Rapa from New Plymouth with Grateful and Red Sand for- tho Waikato Racing Club's Summer Meeting, and, in order to supervise tho work of tho horses ho had left at homo, he journeyed from Hamilton to New Plymouth by aeroplane oh Saturday, leaving at 7 a.m. and arriving at 8.15 a.m. On arrival ho worked som<> of the members of his team who are engaged at Opunako on Wednesday, and at 10 a.m. left again by aeroplane for Hamilton, arriving at 11.30 a.m., in filonty of timo to witness tho racing at To Rapa, whore ho was successfull.v represented by Grateful in tho Linloy Hack Handicap.
