CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS OLD GRAMMARIANS' EVENTS FINLAYSON IN GOOD FORM Several outstanding performances were registered at the third annual championship meeting of the Old Grammarians' Amateur Athletic Club, held at the Grammar School grounds on Saturday. W. Roberts, provincial champion, displayed great pace in the 100 yards event, which he won comfortably. His time of 10 3-5s against a head wind was good. The Dominion hurdles champion, P. A. Finlayson, was in fine fettle and captured three titles, the 120 yards hurdles, the 220 yards hurdles and the long jump. In the 440 yards hurdles championship, for which he was regarded as a certainty, ho struck the first obstacle and experienced a heavy fall which put him out of the race. A good performance was thftt of L. H. Johnston, who outdistanced his opponents in the half-mile event and later in the afternoon ran a fast quarter mile to win the Sayers Cup. In the field events section, W. J. Coxhead, New Zealand secondary schools' 1934 representative, carried off three events, throwing th 6 javelin, throwing the discus and putting the shot. PROGRAMME AT LYNNDALE SIXTH POINTS MEETING Although weather conditions were (rood when the Lynndale Amateur Athletic Club held its sixth points meeting on Saturday, the track was in very bad condition, being inches under water in patches. The runners were forced to lun two yards wide nearly all the way round, and this accounted for the slow times. Fields were again small, but some very cloße finishes were witnessed. The cup for most points was won by W. C. McCombie, with J. Bindon runner-up for the third time. Bindon broke the junior javelin throw recbrd with an effort of 115 ft sin, this being hiß second record this season. He has been a most consistent performer. The ladies finished their competition, and the cup for most points gained over the seven meetings resulted in a win for Miss H. Forsythe. Miss G. Lorrigan was runnerup, and Miss E. Smith third.
