LABOUR'S PLANS
SIX MAJOR BILLS ARRANGED OPENING DATE OF SESSION [by telegraph OWN correspondent] WELLINGTON. Friday Cheers for the Government marked the conclusion this evening of the Labour Party's caucus at Parliament House. As on the first day all 56 members attended, the representation being a numerical record in New Zealand Parliamentary history. After the caucus the Prime Minister, the Hon. M. J. Savage, said that during the day the caucus had finalised and accepted the scheme for the co-opting of the rank and file members of the Parliamentary Labour Party iu the general work of administration and national service and for the sharing of Ministerial salaries. In addition, the party had discussed tln» Government's financial policy, Public Works and pensions. Mr. Savage added that details of the scheme for associating Labour members with Ministers in administrative work would be announced later. No date, he said, hail been fixed for the opening of the new Parliament, but it was anticipated that the first session would open ou Wednesday, March 18, or thereabouts. The legislative programme of the Government would comprise six inajor bills, each of sufficient importance to keep Parliament active and alert for more than a week or two.
