The track was firm and fast. The totalisator handled £5556 10s, against £4687 on the first day last year, an increase of £869 10s. CAULFIELD FUTURITY CLOSING TIME ELIGIBLE MELBOURNE, Feb. 21 The secretary of the Victorian Amateur Turf Club, Mr. F. Elbeshausen, states that although Closing Time was originally nominated for the Futurity Slakes by J. T. Jamieson, who was later disqualified, there was nothing to prevent Closing Time takiug part legitimately in tho Futurity Stakes in spite of the fact that the Australian Jockey Club had prevented the horse starting in tho Villiers Stakes.
