NIGHT TROTTING CONTESTS AT PERTH VISITORS' IMPRESSIONS PERTH, Feb. 20 The championship trotters, except Evicus, Emilius Way and Auburn Lad, went to Kalgoorlio to-day to give an exhibition. Mr. H. Rudd was called to Launceston urgently, leaving Evicus and Emilius Way here. Possibly they may compete at the Easter carnival, and meanwhile may appear in local handicaps.

Mr. Rudd said ho was confident Evicus, who quickly recovered from the voyage across, would uphold New Zealand form. Emilius Way did not get acclimatised and was not at' his best. The different-sized track also effected his running. He considered racing by electric light was equal to ■daylight for the horses, while it gave the public a superior view of the contest. The track was fast and the appointments and management faultless. The hospitality extended to them eclipsed anticipations. Western Australia possessed some potential championship horses whom the experience during tho recent series of races would improve. F. Holmes accompanies Mr. Rudd. Mr. P. Brown, owner of Roi L'Or, who is returning to New Zealand this week, was enthusiastic regarding the influenco of the championship meeting on Australian trotting. Ho was impressed with electric light racing, for the horses were unaffected and it enrolled the support of a large section of the public who otherwise could not be reached. . Roi L'Or is recovering from his injury, but remains in Australia for a while. Possibly he may race in Western Australia later. Logan Derby won £1369, Evicus £873, and Emilius Way £23. FORBURY PARK STAKES INCREASE FOR WINTER [by telegraph—own correspondent] DUNEDIN. Friday The Forbury Park Trotting Club has fixed the stakes for its winter meeting at £3OOO, an increase of £2OO.
