ANZAC DAY PICTURES
PROTEST BY EX-SOLDIERS Uncompromising opposition to a proposal bv picture theatre managers in Christchurch that the city cinemas should be- allowed to open on the night of Anzac Day was shown at a meeting of the executive committee of the Christchurch branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association. The theatre managers advised the executive that they proposed to seek the City Council's permission to screen pictures on that night, and asked the local association for its opinion and, possibly, its co-operation. The executive unanimously decided to wait on the City Council to express its disapproval of the proposal.
