ELLERSLIE FLORAL FETE
CRIPPLED CHILDREN'S FUND The floral fete which is to bo held at Ellerslie Racecourso on March 7, in aid of the Crippled Children's Fund, promises to bo the most spectacular entertainmont of its type over arranged in Auckland. Many elaborately plannpd decorated vehicles are to be entered, these including trade vans and a largo number of private motor-cars. Among the wonderful displays that are to be staged are massed physical drill, the erection of an immeivso " human pyramid " and a demonstration by a unit from the Royal Navy. A special appeal is being made to the public to enter cars in the decorated vehicle classes. In addition to appearing in their respective contests, all such entries will participate in the grand parade, which is expected to last for nearl.v three-quarters of an hour. There will be many novelty classes in the competitions, some of which have probably never been held in Auckland before. Special transport concessions have been arranged with the Transport Board by the fete organising committee. Good entries havo been received from all parts of the North Island for the National Flower Show that is to be held at the racecourse on March G and 7 in conjunction with the floral fete. A number of South Island horticulturists have expressed their intention of forwarding exhibits. In the evenings, the racecourse vvill ho floodlighted and transformed into a veritable wonderland of miniature lights. Music will be provided and the public will be enabled to dance on the lawns.
