Mrs. L. McKenzie, of Waipawa, is at the Central Hotel. * Miss Jean Carnegie Brown, of Remuera, will leave by the Mariposa today for Sydney. Mrs. C. G. Scrimgeour, of Auckland, will be a passenger on the Mariposa to-day for Sydney. Mrs. C. M. Muskett, Buchanan Street, Devonport, is spending a holiday in Morrinsville. Miss Margaret Pollok, M.A., Dip.Ed., of Auckland, has been appointed to the staff of Solway College, Masterton.
Lady Beryta Horlick, who has been visiting New Zealand, will leave by the Mariposa to-day on her return to Sydney.
Mrs. G. T. Simpson, Maungakiekie Avenue, One Tree Hill, will leave this morning on a motor tour of the North Island.
Mrs. N. A. Hepburn and Miss P. Hepburn, Arney Road, Remuera, will leave by the Mariposa to-day for Sydney.
Miss Bevan, of Wellington, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Ronald Webster, Benson Road, Remuera, has returned home.
Mrs. G. Stevens, Rata Place, Parnell, who has been visiting the thermal regions and Tauranga, returned to Auckland yesterday.
Mrs. Neil S. Walker, St. Stephen's Avenue, Parnell, will leave by the Mariposa to-day for Sydney, where she will in future reside.
Mrs. C. J. Phillips, Woodside Road, Mount Eden, who has been seriously "ill in a private hospital, is now convalescent and has returned home.
Mrs. W. Dickie, of Sydney, who has been visiting Mrs. M. Connery, Shore Road, Remuera. will leave by the Mariposa to-day on her return to Australia.
At the Grand Hotel are:—Mrs. A. B. Swift and Mrs. D. G. Girton (Chicago), Mrs. G. Sherman (Christchurch), Mrs. C. Dalgoty (Mangaweka).
Mrs. P. Stanley Foster, of Christchurch, and her husband, Dr. Foster, Governor of Rotary in New Zealand, have left for Auckland to attend the annual Rotary conference to be held next week.
At Hotel Cargen are:—Mrs. P. E. Suttie (Jersey), Mrs. A. Roach (Sydney), Mrs. W. Wilson-Smith, Mrs. Grew and Miss Foote (Queensland), Mrs. H. Robertson (Wanganui), Mrs. J. B. Maunder (Wellington).
At the Station Hotel are:—Mrs. H. Reinhard and Mrs. F. W. Anderson (New South Wales), Miss B. Boyland and Miss M. Hansen (Perth), Mrs. E. R. Morgan (Wellington), Mrs. T. R. Marshall and Mrs. H. W. King (Rotorua), Mrs. A. Hayter (Whakatane).
The first meeting for the year of the Remuera branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held on Tuesday at the home of the president, Mrs. Hugh Kaspar. The work of the union was referred to by Miss K. McLay in the course of a brief address.
Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Elworthy and Miss Anno Elworthy, Gordon's Valley, Canterbury, will feave on March 2 for Bluff, en route to Sydney to join the Mooltan for a visit to Southern India. Miss Elworthy will remain in India, while Mr. and Mrs. Elworthy will visit their sou, Mr. S. Elworthy, in England.
The monthly meeting of the Henderson branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in the Methodist Church, Henderson, on Wednesday. There was a good attendance of members and friends. Mrs. Piatt presided. A paper on "The Life of Francis Willard" was read by Mrs. Lowe.
