OLD AGE PENSIONERS

Sir. —If "Labour Supporter " wants to supplement his pension by working two or three days a week, let him do as I do and give the Labour Government a little time to implement their policy. Apparently there is a tendency to try and rush the Government off their feet before they have had a chance to get into their stride. However, I am pleased to see that Mr. Savage and his colleagues will not be hustled. Now that the Labour Government has assumed office, they are not only expected to perform miracles, but forthwith to remedy the grievances, imaginary and otherwise, of every Jack, Tom and Harry in the country, the workers not excepted. Patience.

Sir, —Continual growls appear in the press from old-age pensioners asking for increases. I would like to point out chat ex-servicemen who have been incapacitated by war service are not getting as much as these old-age pensioners. While we know there are many deserving old-age pensioners, yet the system is wrong. It should be universal superannuation or nothing, with a special grant to war pensioners, who have earned it. Considering all things, the Old-Age Pensioner is lucky to get anything. At the same time we all wish to help them, but not the continual grizzlcr. Empire Service.
