TRAINING COLLEGES
SALARIES OF PRINCIPALS EDUCATION BOARDS' VIEWS Concern at the inadequacy of salaries paid to principals of training colleges, takiug into consideration the enrolments available to principals of secondary schools, was expressed in a letter from the Canterbury Education Board received at a meeting of the Auckland Education Board yesterday. The Auckland Board decided to support any application made to the Department for increases.
The Canterbury Board pointed out that the position of principal of one of the four colleges carried with it arduous and highly important responsibilities. Members .were of opinion that salaries should at least be equal to that received by heads of secondary schools. " I think we should strongly support this," said the chairman, Mr. T. U. Wells.
