ANNUAL PICNICS

WEEK-END GATHERINGS CHURCH AND SPORTS BODIES A number of annual picnics organised by church, school and sports bodies was held during the week-end. Thirteen large buses and various private cars conveyed a crowd of over 750 members and supporters of the Manukau Rovers Rugby Football Club to Tui Glen on Sunday. The transport and general arrangements under the direction of the honorary secre-ta-y Mr C J. Williams, and an energetic committee were excellent. There were large fields in all the events. Each of the smaller children received a prize. At the conclusion of the racing the trophies won were presented by the club's patron, Mr. J. D. Twentyman. ONEHUNGA PUBLIC SCHOOL There wae an attendance of over 450 children and parents at the annual picnic of the Onchunga Rublic School, held at Eastern Beach on Saturday. During the day swimming trials were held. Mr. J. Mossong presented a gold cup for competition and this was allotted as a points cup, to be competed for by girls this year. DOMINION ROAD METHODISTS The annual picnic and sports of the Dominion Bond Methodist buodiy School were held at Seaside Park, Oiahuhu. on Saturday. About 150 pupils, teachers and parents attended and an enjoyable outing was spent in ideal surroundings. During the morning and early portion of the afternoon organised games were arranged. A sports programme of running and novelty races occupied the greater Part of the afternoon. Points were awarded Jn each event and aggregate prizes presented in each grade.
