FRENCH SUSPECTS
ST. ALBANS MURDER EXTRADITION SOUGHT (Received February 10, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY. Feb. 15 The British Government has made a formal request for the extradition of Roger Vernon, alias Lacroix, on a charge of murdering Max Kassel, who was known as Emil Allard. The latter's body was found near St. Albans on January 24. The extradition is also sought of Susan Bertrand on a charge of being an accessory after the crime. The British Note says that if on account of their French nationality and the French law the French Government cannot accede to these requests the British Government requests that all necessary steps be taken by the French Government to ensure that justice is done. Copies of the warrants and depositions were enclosed with the Note and the British Government will give all assistance to see the ends of justice served. It is understood that the French law of 1927 makes it impossible to extradite French citizens, but enables the French Courts to deal with crimes committed by them abroad.
