WOMEN AND BILLIARDS
The male exelusiveness of billiards has always been a puzzle. It is a game of delicacy and refinement; it needs strong wrists, true, but it has no suggestion of brute force. Yet, until recently, there were few women who could handle a cue, states an Englisji writer.
Now, quite suddenly, women have realised that the game of billiards is excellent, whether they bo sixteen or sixty, and there are hundreds of feminine players all over the country.
The "Billiards Circle" has become a close rival to the Bridge Club. The click of the balls forms a usual accompaniment to the clatter of tea cups and the chatter of feminine tongues.
Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Bournemouth, Leicester, Nottingham, these are a few of the towns with' clubs and "circles." Harrogate and Southampton are two of the latest towns to open up "Billiards Centres." The team spirit is flourishing among devotees of the cue. Inter-club competitions are most popular, and these will probably be followed by county matches.
